This week’s photo challenge is guest hosted by Quintin Lake of Quintin Lake Architectural Photography. 

‘This challenge is about the shapes and rhythms that make up the geometry of our world. Many photographs of any genre have an underlying sense of geometry, but I often like to make this the main subject of my work. I think it’s the most important aspect of a photograph’s success. This could be the patterns of the natural world up close and personal, or the rhythm of your local buildings.’

This is a second installment on the weekly challenge. However, this morning we were pulling out of a parking lot in a semi-developed area and it was so startling to see this bird silhouetted in the tree — I had to stop and take a photo.

Was he welcoming the rising sun from a tree instead of waiting in the dark on his normal grounded habitat?

WordPress Weekly Photo Challenge: Big

In the U.S. we do not have the castles and cathedrals of Europe. However, the wealthy George Vanderbilt created the Biltmore Estate in North Carolina, which is a huge and amazing place. It was overwhelming and gorgeous. I would be hard put to say what was my favorite piece of our tours. The outside was overwhelming, the inside was fascinating, and the gardens were gorgeous.
